Political Preachers PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 29 September 2008 19:36

Well, yesterday a whole buncha pastors decided to preach politics from the pulpit in protest to the law that will strip them of their tax exemption status if reported.  I think it was something like 33 major pastors grouped up to do it.   They want to change the law so that they can tell their parishioners who "god" wants them to vote for while not paying taxes that every other business has to pay.  They say it's because if the government can tax churches then they will "tax them out of existence".   Yeah.  Alright.  Those billion dollar megachurches are totally in danger of going bankrupt.

So what kinda stuff did these pastors tell their tithe-paying friends?

"I'm telling you straight up, I would choose life," Emrich told about 100 worshippers Sunday at New Life Church, a nondenominational evangelical congregation about 40 miles from Milwaukee.

"I would cast a vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin," he said. "But friends, it's your choice to make, it's not my choice. I won't be in the voting booth with you."

****

Pastor Jody Hice of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bethlehem, Ga., said in an interview Sunday that his sermon compared Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain on abortion and gay marriage and concluded that McCain "holds more to a biblical world view."

He said he urged the Southern Baptist congregation to vote for McCain.

****

At the independent Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond, Okla., pastor Paul Blair said he told his congregation, "As a Christian and as an American citizen, I will be voting for John McCain."

Surprised?  I knew you would be.

These people like to say that they are voting for McCain and Palin because of the "life issue" but that is really not it.  Palin is a total evangelical nutbag whose pastor brags to the congregation in Wasilla that he helped get a real life witch kicked out of a town in Kenya (through violent means, though the woman was lucky enough not be killed).  With the country in her hands (something that is very likely as McCain inches closer and closer to senility and death every moment of every day), you can guarantee that those churches and their leaders would only become more powerful and more wealthy with bigger and bigger tax-exempt houses and automobiles to park in those holy garages.  They want McCain and Palin to win.  And they want to be able to tell the hundreds of thousands of people who they have at their command who to vote for because it will benefit THEM.  Not the worshippers at the church.  The pastors.  The preachers.  The people who convince poor people to give up 10% of their pay to the church because "god needs more money"!

Luckily, the average person has been pretty disgusted by this protest.  I am looking forward to these particular churches losing their tax exempt status and having to slink back to the corner to sulk.  Preachers have no business telling people how to vote in political races.  NONE.

I Love Fox News PDF Print E-mail

I love Fox News more and more each day. I mean... the sexism and racism that is rampant on that show just can NOT be paralleled on any other news agency. There is a reason why people call them a "news" channel.

Here is one of them.

I have heard recently from some people on the more privileged end of the spectrum who are saying "racism is dead" or "racism isn't a problem anymore". Well...... when white guys are saying that the meltdown that this country is facing is because non-white people took out loans.... uhm..... yeah... what do you call that?

(I love that little guy ^_^ )

Cho-Tastic PDF Print E-mail

I discovered The Cho Show a couple of weeks ago and have been DVRing the whole series. Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of Margaret Cho's standup. I think she's clever and awesome... but her standup doesn't make me laugh. To each his own, right? She's got plenty of people who she does make laugh so I know she couldn't give a shit if I, personally, laugh or not. Her show makes me laugh though. Weird. ANYWAY! Margaret Cho is wonderful is basically what I'm getting at.

One of the things that makes her wonderful is that she doesn't like Sarah Palin. At all. Even called her "evil". I think that's a pretty good description for someone who made rape victims pay for their own rape kits while she was Mayor of Wasilla (something so fucking horrendous that a law was put in place by the state of Alaska to make sure no one was ever able to do that again) - I would put up links but I am lazy and seriously, this blog isn't popular enough for it to be a 'first-stop' for anyone so YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS ALREADY - . Well, it looks like some of Cho's fellow X-tians weren't too happy about her "Palin bashing" (i.e. legitimately pointing out things wrong with Sarah Palin).

One commenter said:

If evangelicals shouldn’t call themselves Christian because they are not at all “Christ-like”, I hardly think that you’re able to call yourself a Christian for you have minimal Christ-like attributes.

And another said:

I agree QT! Who is she to say what evangelicals should call themselves? Especially when she holds herself out to be a Christian?

Jesus commanded his followers to “love their neighbor as they love themselves” - without judgment, without malice, without hatred. The venom that Margaret Cho has for Sarah Palin is unfair and outrageous! I think it is fine to disagree with someone on practically all issues - but the whole argument is weakened (as is her own character) when she resorts to calling them “evil”! How very un-Christlike her behavior is!

And still one another said:

The fact that you call yourself a Christian is laughable. The Cho Show is an excellent example of that. Margaret, examine your own behavior before pointing the finger at others because for every finger you point there are three more pointing back at you.

And so, Miss Margaret Cho, quite possibly the most awesome tattooed, female, Korean comedienne with her own show in the United States replied with:

First of all – you fucking fake Christians - don’t fucking question my Christianity. I grew up in the church. My grandfather was a minister, who is with God now and talks to me in my dreams from God’s corner office. I am a former Sunday school teacher. I taught the Bible to children and showed them how to love God and invite him into their hearts. I believe in God – but I don’t fear him. God is my best friend. God is my ally. God is my boyfriend. God is my best fag. I am God’s fag hag cuz didn’t you know, God is a big fag. Serious bottom too. Butch in the streets, femme in the sheets. That is my God. God is my biggest fan. God gets me, dude.

Don’t fucking question my Christianity you fucking idiot assholes. If you continue to have a problem, then talk to God about it, not me, you fucking racist homophobic misogynist fake Christian shitheads. God thinks it is funny that I swear so much. He said I could use his name in vain or whatever. He just wants me to use it. He loves me.

If you truly believed in Jesus, you would try to be like him and love us, fags and dykes and feminists all. God bless you, even you. You fucking fuckers.

Miss Margaret Cho, we may not agree on many issues concerning religion, but I think we can both agree that your last sentence says all that needs to be said.

"You fucking fuckers."
