Harry Potter is Ours! PDF Print E-mail

It's always interesting to me to find out what famous peoples out there are part of the godless ranks.  I don't know why exactly since they are just regular people with brains and whatnot (theoretically), but I just think it's kind of fun to see who else out there is atheistic.

Well, I am proud to have found out that Daniel Radcliffe (better known as Harry Potter) is an atheist!  And proud to be one.  Although it comes as less of a surprise as he is European and their non-religious statistics are much higher than the United States'.

Telegraph:

"I'm an atheist, but I'm very relaxed about it. I don't preach my atheism, but I have a huge amount of respect for people like Richard Dawkins who do. Anything he does on television, I will watch."

He joked: "There we go, Dan, that's half of America that's not going to see the next Harry Potter film on the back of that comment."

So.... neat!  Another reason for the creepy fundies to keep their children away from the devilish tales of Harry Potter, though.  See what magic does?  It makes you 'hate god'!  ^_^ Spoooooooooooooky!!!!

BREAKING NEWS!: Atheists No Longer Referred To As "Those People" and Treated As Worthy Associates PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 31 October 2008 11:59

Just kidding.

And the demonization of non-theists continues.  I really must say.. between my sexuality, my biracial-ness, my atheism, and my politics.... I really do feel totally and completely welcome in this country.

Bai Bai, P-Momma PDF Print E-mail

If you peruse my blog links ever, you might have noticed that one of them really isn't working.  Atheist in a Mini Van is a blog that I really enjoyed reading.  Actually, it was one of the first that I read on the subject of atheism and parenting and Possummomma really has a talent for writing.  I was hooked.

Well, sometime last week when I was trying to go to the site, I noticed that it was set to private.  I immediately assumed it was because yet another fundie had started stalking her and her family because they disagreed with her atheism and the way she raised her children.  Unfortunately.... it appears to be a much more crazy reason than that.  I'll let The Calladus Blog do all the talking but basically, P-Momma commented on the "John & Kate + 8" show in one of her posts and the fans of said show got soooooo upset that I guess they started poking around the internet, trying to get PERSONAL information on P-Momma and her kids.  They halfway succeeded and then began leaving nasty messages on her blog and also on her Picaso Photo account which she had to delete in order to stop the harassment.

I'm sad that she had to close down her blog to the public.  I really enjoyed reading it.   Good luck to her with her in handling her illness and also to raising her kids!

More Palin PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 03 October 2008 15:34

Ugh, I know.  More Palin.  More and more and more.  And when everyone has had enough.... there's still more to come!   But I'd like to talk about religion and Palin instead of just politics (although the two are, sadly, pretty closely related in America).

When the whole Reverend Wright fiasco was going on... people seemed mighty interested in the religion of Barack Obama.   That's all we heard about for a good month.  Of course, it was more related to race and politics then it was to actual religion but there were strong words being said about Obama and how he HAD to hold the same views as his pastor cuz... well.. it's his pastor, right?  Apparently enough people in this country blindly follow the words of their religious leaders and therefore believe that everyone else does, too.

Strangely,  we're not hearing quite as much about Palin's pastor or her world views as related to her religion on the news.  It's actually not that strange. ^_^  I mean... Palin's pastor only drove a "witch" out of a town in Kenya.  It's not like he actually killed the woman or anything.  Maybe that would make news.

For those of you interested in Palin's religious views, I suggest taking a look at this video.   I know I am terrified in general of people who believe we are living in "the End Times" and want to facilitate the "coming of Christ" as much as they can.  But putting one in office?  No, thanks.  I hope just this would be enough to turn some people off of the idea of having her anywhere near the white house.  Unfortunately, I think it would also be enough to encourage others that she is exactly what this country needs.....
